Andrew Pickard a young man from Maitland NSW who was seperated from his wife Grace and young twins.
Many years ago a young man from the same area in New South Wales telephoned me and asked for help. I had no money and he had lived about 12 hours away so I couldn't drop everything and hitch-hike to Maitland N.S.W. He said: "Warren, the Brethren won't allow me to see my little twins on their birthday and I don't know what to do!"
I couldn't do anything but listen and pray for the best for him. He sadly took his own life in the following weeks.
I thought it was Andrew Hackett, not Pickard as stated. Am I wrong here?
Andrew Hackett, son of Vic Hackett.
Andrew Hackett phoned me in Melbourne from Newcastle, Maitland NSW, in about 1994.
His words ring in my ears today, some thirteen years later, " Warren the Brethren won't let me see my little twins on their birthday."
Sadly I did not have the neccessary tools and finance to go to his aid. I have made myself a promise to try and never be in that helpless position again.
Sadly Andrew took his own life a few weeks later..........
Andrew James Hackett, died aged 26 years, on 12-13th June, 1995.
Think outside of the box, create your own path in life. “You laugh at me because I am different; I laugh because you are all the same.”
