New Zealand - call for research participants

I’ll be in New Zealand in early December (2nd- 9th), interviewing ex-EBs to learn more about their experiences. I’m interested in hearing about all aspects of life as a member of the Brethren, and the experiences of ex-members while adjusting to the norms of mainstream society after leaving. Anyone ...

Re: Call for research participants in the US

Thanks for this suggestion Ian. I was planning to be there later in the month, but now I know about the gathering at Maidenhead I will see if it's possible to rearrange my plans a little. :)

Call for research participants in the US

A call for research participants who are former members of the PBCC/Exclusive Brethren Hi, I’m Laura :) For those that don’t know me, I’m an ex-member of the EB. I grew up in Albury, (Australia), and left the EB just over 10 years ago. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Sydney, workin...

Yes, that is the passage I was referring to, Ian. Yes, your letter is different, although what it describes seems to be essentially the same. I shall keep searching!

Re: Political Lobbying by the Brethren in the USA

Hi Ian :)
I’ve been trying to source the letter in Bachelard’s book (Behind the Exclusive Brethren), where he mentions a letter signed by BDH and seven other leading brothers, encouraging Brethren around the world into political action. Do you know if this is it?

Re: The letter of May the 5th

Divinely inspired, Ian? How interesting!
I'd have expected divine inspiration to focus on bigger things than t-shirts and stockings, but what would I know! :)

Re: The letter of May the 5th

Thanks for your reply Jill :) I didn't realise it was printed in the ministry (just goes to show how much ministry I read back in the day!).

I have had someone send it to me now :)

The letter of May the 5th

Hi folks :) I'm wondering if anyone would have a copy of BDH's letter from May 2003 which detailed the things that Brethren could and couldn't do, ranging from 'big' things right through to small details like young sisters wearing stockings to the meeting. I don't know how else to describe it- it wa...
